I'm super duper tired. It's been a busy few weeks with school and the kids stuff and lord knows what. I keep wanting to come to post and by the end of the day I just melt into the couch.
But I'm excited about my new Yakkay cover for the winter. I like it a lot. It certainly is warm but I am hoping that for the winter that will be a good thing.
My early winter get up. Except the 32 temps rose to the 50's and I started to get warm!
I spent weds this week running errands in town. Now that I know how easy it is to use the sidewalks to Trader Joe's, I am going to be going that route a lot. It also happens to be FLAT as opposed to the parallel road that is on the other side of the highway/train tracks which is all hills over there...
SO I went to The Barn which is a huge kids and adult shoe house. Got winter gloves for the kids. Then a block down to TJ's for yummies. Almost got angry at a elderly Lexus driver for blocking me in and almost was going to let the Sorte scratch his nice paint job ( Black Lux cars are my nemesis as opposed to white trucks being Miss Sara's) except he gushed over how great my bike was and I felt badly for ever having negative feelings about him!
After Trader Joe's, I kept along the sidewalk toward home and went past a open air Garden place??? I don't really know what they sell, but on weds they had those cabbages and living xmas trees. I bought four cabbages at $3 each for my front planters. And called it a day. I love doing errands with the Sorte.
Your helmet/hat is adorable.
ReplyDeleteYes. I love the hat, too. And the cabbages. And this whole errand by bike delight - I wonder when little shops will realize that they will get so much more drop-by, whim-of-the-moment business if they are accessible to bikes?
ReplyDeleteEmma J- yes! I have never stopped at that garden/farm stop before. I've always driven past it and looked at it but was always in route to someplace else and didn't stop. I did walk past it once b/c as they sell lots of plants and such I never really thought to stop and look b/c I couldn't carry anything away. However on bike, I was able to do some impulse shopping. Lucky him eh? I'll go back there for the living trees too in a week. That way I can support a local person instead of whole foods.
ReplyDeleteAnon- thanks!
Groovin' on your new helmet cover.
ReplyDeleteFunny about having negative feelings towards some driver & then have him say something nice. I've had this happen too. The times I feel particularly chagrined is when someone honks at me & I get my hackles all up & then when I look-- it is someone we know who is just trying to get our attention to say hi. Whoops...
Is that a khaki green overcoat?
ReplyDeleteYou know how I feel about that colour!
Very pretty cabbages.
So that hat is actually a helmet cover? It's the coolest I've seen. :-)
ReplyDeleteOoooh, those Yakkay covers look fabulous on you. Some of the models look a bit goofy, but seeing you with it makes me want one so bad.
ReplyDeleteGee, I don't know how I missed this post!! To start - I so appreciate being on your blogroll sidebar and have enjoyed the visits we have made back and forth to each others blogs.
ReplyDeleteYour Yakkay is an interesting choice, it does compliment you. But, did you know the reason Yakkay are not directly sold here in the USA is because they lack the proper US safety certs so legally it can't be sold here. It can only be ordered online and then shipped with pretty expensive VAT if I remember correctly.
Did you know I make winter bicycle helmet covers? Plus they work with 100% USA safety certified bicycle helmets- Well I do make warm winter helmet covers - helmet covers it's pretty much how/why I started I my original blog!
Hey, I'm not a big backed/financed, company like Yakkay. It's just me and my sewing machine and it's all 100% USA made - non sweatshop because I am the sweatshop. Just wanted to share...
All the Best in whatever helmet you choose!
