Bike friendly cape cod towns

Each summer I try to visit my friend and her family in woods hole. She lives in japan and so it's my only chance to see he each year win she comes with her two small kids for a month in the summer.

Over the years, I have come to really look forward to visiting her, her wonderful family and Woods Hole. Woho as locals like to call it, is a really neat town and while I am often all about the outer cape towns of Wellfleet, P-town and so on, Woho is worth the trek to the other side of this long cape shaped land.

My favorite thing about Woho is how walkable and bikable it is. We ( I often visit with a friend from eastham) drive down to their house and often don't touch the cat for our stay. Instead we take twice daily walks to town for ice cream, coffee and wine for dinner.

The other week I was able to bring the kid's bikes down as well and while the adults walked, the kids biked to town. How I wish I could bring the sorte along. Or even my orange bike, but I don't have space for either. Girlpie's bike is just small enough to fit in the trunk as it is.

Some pics of the kids riding and the Hello Kitty bike I saw locked up in town.

  1. Woods Hole really is great for bikes, both the town and the trail. We are on Cape Ann this year and even Rockport is not really cyclable by comparison - Miss Cape Cod!

  2. Ahhh when I first started cycling as an adult it was when my husband kept our bikes in the basement of his WHOI apartment. SO much easier than Boston, I miss those days. Future Cyclist's first bike adventure was on that cycle trail.

Do you have a bike rack to hang on your car? It wouldn't work for the Sorte but it could for the Orange bike.

  3. Charlotte, I have no rack. It's best if I drive a car without drag, visual issues etc... Plus I'm too short to lift one on the top which is where such a rack should go. Boo hiss on that. I wish I had a pick up truck sometimes...
