My mother in law gladly took the kids to play games and I took the Orange Bike for a lovely solo late afternoon ride to meet T and S at a restaurant for Oyster Happy Hour. Discounted Wellfleet Oysters, wine and prosecco and chatting away.
The nice thing about good college friends is that it always seems like you pick up where you left off and we were yapping and giggling as if no time had past since we were wandering the dorms and creating radical student life changes.
The other nice thing is seeing how many people in my life appreciate bicycles. T owns a sweet pink Brompton for commuting in NYC and both she and S are looking for new bikes. A road bike for S and a zippy commuter for T.
As we parted, They off to mini golf and me off to take over parental duty again, we walked to my parked bike and ohhed and ahhed over it. T took a quickie ride in the parking lot and her first impression was pretty good. A nice smooth comfortable ride. Didn't hurt that at least two sets of people walking by commented by saying " Nice Bike!!" I'll be ready for a review of the Public soon but until then, this picture says it all to me. The bike makes people smile!

Um Oyster Happy Hour? That's my kind of happy hour!
ReplyDeleteVelouria- yeah it's pretty neat. from 3-5 all they serve is oysters and clam chowder. Unfortunately for me I don't eat either, but I greatly enjoy watching other people down plates of oysters. I drank lots. Winslow's Tavern in wellfleet-for next summer if you return to the cape... Pearl has live music and serves $10 lobsters and a full discounted raw bar. I think they'd serve calamari which is what I prefer to eat- so next year I'm going there!
ReplyDeleteI'd ooh and ahh over that bike, too! Gorgeous!
