Anyway- I rode over with Tuber being conservative on the power just because I'm like that. However while dropping him off the skies opened up and a full on thunderstorm came on. I quickly kissed Tuber and ran off to bike home. I was invited to wait out the storm, but the idea of sitting inside while the bike got soaked was not going to be fun, so I thought- what could a little water do to me. I was wearing cotton, it's warm and I didn't have any kids to fuss at me.
Well let me tell you I powered up the whole way home with the exceptions of my downhill parts. I had to start out on a long uphill and was thankful for the boost to get me going. Going past the fancy golf course, the landscaper in open topped golf cart and I wave at each other. Electric vehicles unite.
Well I was seriously moving. And also totally in control of the bike. It was a great feeling to be able to move so quickly. Of course the faster one goes, the harder the rain seems, but it was worth it to just get home. Plus I think being able to move fast versus struggling makes me look less pitiful biking in the rain. I waved at my fellow cyclists and runners on the road and got home perhaps in under 10 minutes. Not a feat that I could have done without extra power.
Funnily enough while writing this post, B called me with time sensitive post office errands. So I stopped writing to bike down to the post office to mail his precious business letters that needed postmarking for today. Luckily for me, the rain stopped and the sun came back out. However this time I took the Public. I'm glad only one bike got drenched. I need to use both bikes tomorrow and will need to dry out the box for passengers ( I was too rushed to pull out the rain shield).
Today I drove 16 miles ( 8 mile one way to special dentist office- bad gums) and then 6-8 miles of biking errands afterward. I wont need my car again until- I don't really know when!
Wow! Fantastic to hear that the e-assist is working for you, I've heard such mixed impressions that I wasn't sure. Sounds like this could be just the thing for those who live in hilly areas and don't think they can handle a cargo bike. Keep us posted!
ReplyDeleteAmazing. Biking for 16 miles a day.!.. wohh.. that's pretty amaziing....I wish I have time to do that..

Ayasha- thanks. No no- I did not bike for 16 miles! No time for that at all. No I did have to drive that 16 miles. mainly b/c of timing and also b/c the route was unknown to me. But mostly b/c of time- I'd never get to the apt and back in time to pick up my kids...
ReplyDeletethanks Shalk.
velouria- yeah I wasn't sure what to expect either. I was quite nervous. But it's been great. I kinda only want to ride the e-trike now.
