kid tested. Kid Approved.

Saturday the kids and I had lunch plans with the neighbor family. Girlpie's friend is turning 9 and we wanted to celebrate and made plans to meet at a bistro a mile away at 12. The neighbor family were going to be running errands before lunch and had a soccer game after, so I figured we'd just bike over and meet them there.

About 11:40 I pulled the bike out of the garage and started getting ready. I sent Girlpie and Tuber outside to ready themselves as I did last minute things to shut the house down. The birthday girl came running over seeing the bike and kids outside and asked me if she could ride with me. I said "sure!" She asked if her brother could come too and I said sure again. They ran across the street to grab their helmets, shouting at their mother " By mom, we'll see you there!!!"

The 9 year old is a precocious 9. She is also very athletic and often goes for 10 mile bike path rides with her parents on the cape. She has in the past ridden her bike along side me riding my kids and her brother. But sometimes sitting next to your friend laughing and waving to every single person you wiz past is a lot of fun.

As lunch was winding down, She asked if she could ride home with me. Turns out her soccer game was cancelled due to soaked field and I was more than happy to have her join us. I feel that her willingness to hop in the the Boxcycle is the biggest testimonial around. Kid approved. Heck, I think it would be really cool if Girlpie would use the Boxcycle when she's a teenager to ride to the train station for trips into the Boston. Better yet if she lets her friends hop in for a ride. That would be a true sign Cargo Bikes are fully accepted here in the US.

  1. Today I biked them all to school again for bike/walk to school day. Later at lunch ( early release day) the neighbor girl asked if I could bike them everyday. We agreed to once a week perhaps! both she and girlpie biked to the library with me this afternoon ( on their own bikes...) so that's good.
