riding, driving- getting around in Feb.

Still here. Still riding here and there. It's an unspoken rule of mine that I kinda take Jan and Feb off of biking. In the past it has been too snowy. It's been a mild winter this year, yet I am tired of winter and am ready for warm spring like weather. So I end up biking these days mostly because my body and soul couldn't stand doing anything else and less out of some feeling of should... Mostly this means rides that are one mile long or so. Anything over that feels like work.

A few weeks ago I had a night meeting at it seemed cold and I was tired. I asked B " should I ride?" and once he found out where I was going- a location a mile away- he said " Oh you should totally ride- it will be nice and relaxing. It was. A week later I had another cold night ride to a meeting. The village center is so quiet at 9 at night, wood smoke in the air.

And yesterday it felt really good to wear a fleece and puff vest home from yoga. It was cold going dow the hill at 9AM. But post workout and coffee and errands at 12:15 it was balmy and nice.

The public feeling like a convertible sports car on a nice day.

I'm not hardcore. I'm not into "perfect attendance" on the saddle. I'm just into listening to my body and enjoying the day. Also the knowledge that each car ride I take is a luxury, not a necessity and thus is actually enjoyed.

Boxcycle in the wild of Newton

Today was one of my favorite kind of winter day. Sunny and cold. However, still hovering in the 30'sF. Cold enough that you wear mittens and a scarf and feel like it's winter- but warm enough to do what you want to do.

I had an 8:30 breakfast date to discuss school PTO things. 9:45 volunteer time at the school library. A run to the Hardware store to buy gallons of paint to paint Girlpie's room with and then a surprise run back to Newtonville to pick up my fused glass project for a New Art Center class I took last week. I missed out on Wednesday's wonderfully warm weather in that I neglected to plan ahead and didn't charge the boxbike and thus ended up driving. I was sad to see that was my one chance for spring like weather this week- but was determined to be back on the bike Thursday and Friday and I did- I actually enjoy a chilly ride.

Breakfast date
School volunteer duty
3 gallons of paint
Fused glass art
favorite local art organization

Anyway- riding around in the sunshine makes my morning seem like a vast adventure. Nothing really exciting about my above list of things to get done before half day kindergarten lets out. Yet, it was possibly my best morning yet this week. No need for a special SAD lamp- just get me some fresh air under the full sun.
